-Â Â Audi has updated the European-spec A4 line-up.
-Â Â The sedan comes with cosmetic changes, added features and a new mild-hybrid powertrain.
-Â Â Will soon arrive in India as well.
Audi has revamped the entire A4 line-up in the European market without much fanfare. The executive sedan now comes with a whole new design language, the cabin has been updated with new-age features and there is also the addition of a mild hybrid powerplant under the hood.Â
The obvious changes are the heavily reworked fascia with a Q8-inspired headlamp design. This might be the new design language adopted by the German carmaker and is likely to be seen on all other cars in the line-up as well. The redesigned headlamps now look much better than the ones on the older car and complement the Singleframe cascading grille. The lower bumper also gets larger vents and an aggressive lip spoiler.Â
At the rear, the A8 inspiration is evident. The sculpted bumper design and the well-defined boot adds character to the updated A4. Similar design changes have been made to the estate version while the performance-oriented S4 trim gets more aggressive bits as well. There are new paint scheme and alloy wheel designs available too as a part of the update.
On the inside, things remain more or less unchanged over the previous model. But the updated MMI System is the most advanced one till date. Its 10.1-inch display now has revised graphics, advanced voice command control and all the connectivity features expected from its class.Â
But the most prominent changes are under the hood. For the European market, Audi is offering no less than six engine options with power output ranging from 150bhp to 345bhp. Out of those, three powertrains comes with a 12-volt mild hybrid system. Meanwhile, the new diesel S4 gets a 48-volt hybrid system mated to its 3.0-litre turbocharged V6. All A4 models come off the production line with an automatic transmission as standard, but Audi is offering a choice of a manual gearbox as well.Â
Shortly after it goes on sale in the European markets in a few years’ time, we expect Audi to bring the updated A4 to India as well.
