The Hyundai Creta has gone on sale in the Vietnamese market; the 1.6 petrol costing VND 806 million (Rs 23.6lakh) and the 1.6 diesel being priced at VND 846 million (Rs 24.8lakh). This LHD model is manufactured at HMIL’s Chennai plant in India, exported from our country and sold through Hyundai Thanh Cong in Vietnam.
The Creta on sale in Vietnam is offered in two engine options. The petrol version is powered by the 1.6-litre four-cylinder DOHC mill that churns out 121.3bhp of power and 151Nm of torque. The oil-burner employs the 1.6-litre four-cylinder DOHC CRDi engine with VGT, producing 126.3bhp of power and 259Nm of torque. Only the six-speed automatic transmission is available with both engine options.
Cosmetically, the Vietnamese-spec Creta is same as the crossover on sale in the Indian market. The only changes the manufacturer has brought in is in the cabin with the left-hand-drive system. The crossover features projector headlamps, DRLs, silver skid guards, roof rails, 17-inch alloy wheels and OVRMs integrated with side indicators. The cabin is also equipped with the equipment list similar to the Indian model. However, the car sold in Vietnam features an automatic climate control system as standard with rear AC vents and keyless entry with start/stop button. On the safety front, dual front airbags, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC and VSM, and Hill Start Assist are also offered as standard.
Hyundai has already tasted quite a bit of success with the Creta's launch in India. No wonder the manufacturer is taking it to different markets. The crossover had achieved landmark bookings and still has a good demand in our country.
