Ford of UK has announced that it will launch the KA+ compact hatchback in October of this year. This car is made at Ford’s Chennai plant and is currently sold in India as the Figo hatchback. It is being offered in the UK with a single petrol engine but in two states of tune.
It will slot in below the Fiesta hatchback in the Ford UK range and will replace the current KA hatchback. Prices start from Rs 8.72 lakh (8, 895 GBP). It will be Ford’s player in the B-segment where it will compete with the Kia Rio and the Dacia Sandero.
Standard features for both include front power windows and ORVMs, central locking and six airbags. Those going for the 84bhp version also get climate control; leather wrapped steering, heated front seats, rear parking sensors and heated ORVMs.
The engine powering this UK-spec KA+ will be the 1.2 four-cylinder engine that can be had in a 69bhp or 84bhp output, though no transmission options have been specified as yet. We believe that both the five-speed manual and the six-speed DCT will be available when the car is launched.
