The Ford Figo is currently being manufactured at the Sanand Plant in Gujarat. It is being exported to a good deal of International markets, South Africa was included recently in them as well. Now, the Figo will soon be exported to Europe as the 2016 model-year Ford Ka.
The exportation of the Ford Figo to the European market is significant because it will have to meet the high European standard for quality and safety. It will be a newer-generation Ford Ka in 2016 and will carry the name forward. The base variant Ford Ka is currently priced at £8900 (Rs 8,73,482) and the newer replacement will be priced similarly.
The Ford Figo gets three engine options in India. There are two petrols which are the 1.2-litre with a manual transmission and a 1.5-litre coupled to a six-speed dual clutch gearbox. The diesel heart displaces 1.5-litres and is good for nearly hundred horses. The European counterpart will be a petrol version which will be powered by the 1.5-litre Ti-VCT engine that produces 110.5bhp of power and 136Nm of torque while the diesel will be powered by the 1.5-litre TDCi unit producing 98.6bhp of power and 215Nm of torque. Transmission options include the five-speed manual and the six-speed dual clutch automatic.
The European market will not offer the sedan version of the Ford Figo Aspire. The Ford hatchback will go on sale after its preview at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016.
