Mahindra has been selling the TUV300 in the African markets since 2015 and the sub-four metre SUV has received a set of updates. The TUV300 is built at Mahindra’s Chakan facility in Maharashtra and is sold only in the top-spec T8 trim for the African markets.
The update is only internal and the car looks exactly the same as the Indian counterpart. The car looks sturdy with its square lines and butch styling. The front fog lamps get a chrome surround and double up as cornering lamps. The reflector headlamps get the follow-me-home function. It also gets parking sensors in the back as a part of the Intelli-park system.
Inside, the TUV gets seven seats with the last row seats facing each other. The fabric upholstery is in beige and grey while the dashboard is finished in beige and black. The 2-DIN music system gets steering mounted audio controls along with Bluetooth telephony and USB connectivity. The air-conditioning is manual. For safety, it gets dual front airbags along with ABS and EBD.
It is powered by the four cylinder 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel that powers the rear wheels. The engine develops 100bhp of power and 240Nm of torque and comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The engine gets Intelli-hybrid technology which goes a step ahead of the snormal start-stop system to assist the crank at lower rpms.
