New SUVs for India
At the start of the year, Renault had announced that it would once again make a premium push in the Indian market and this would be on the back of the next-generation Duster in two- and three-row guises.
Three-row model spied on test
Now, the latter has been spied testing in the Dacia guise. Despite being heavily camouflaged, we can see quite a few details that will make it to the car that will come to India in 2025. The pictures reveal the silhouette of the vehicle, pillar-mounted door handles, design of the headlamps, wheels, as well as taillamps. These elements are present in the next-generation two-row Duster as well and it confirms that Renault is going for the family look when it comes to these two cars.
The three-row is expected to share the cabin and feature list with the two-row model but is expected to have different colour schemes. There will be an addition of 100-150mm in the overall length over the two-row version to accommodate the third row.
Engine options
In the international market, we expect it to be offered three engine options – a 1.6-litre petrol-hybrid, 1.2-litre petrol-hybrid, and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor with LPG compatibility, the latter for select markets. However, the former two are likely to be bundled with the India-spec Duster.
Competition and Pricing
The Bigster, as it's being popularly called right now, will go up against the Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, Kia Carens, Tata Safari, and future three-row models from Maruti and Toyota. It is expected to arrive with a price tag of Rs. 14-18 lakh (ex-showroom).
