Skoda Kodiaq, one of the most awaited premium SUV has been spotted on test. Although the vehicle had been spotted in the past on a few occasions, this time around, interior shots of the vehicle have surfaced. Based on Volkswagen’s MQB platform, it will share most of its components with the upcoming Tiguan. Skoda dealers in the country have started accepting bookings for same at a token amount of Rs 51,000.
Based on what could be seen, the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq will get steering mounted controls, a DSG automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system. The dashboard will sport a large eight-inch touchscreen system with navigation, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Offered as a premium SUV, the vehicle will get features like engine start/stop button, dual zone automatic climate control, electric driver seat, electric tailgate and more.
Mechanically, the Skoda Kodiaq will be available in petrol as well as diesel engine options. The petrol version will be powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates 175bhp of power and 320Nm of peak torque. The diesel version is also powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged unit in two states - the first generates 146bhp of power and 340Nm of torque, while the other generates 185bhp of power and 400Nm of torque.
Speaking of safety, the upcoming Kodiaq will get a host of equipment like six-airbags, ABS with EBD and more. Post launch, the Kodiaq will compete against the likes of Ford Endeavour, Volkswagen Tiguan, Hyundai Santa Fe, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Toyota Fortuner in India. Although the pricing aspect is not known for now, we believe it might be priced between Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).
