Expected to arrive in India in 2025
First compact electric SUV from Skoda
The Skoda Elroq compact SUV will make its global debut tomorrow, 1 October. This is the automaker’s first compact electric vehicle and has been confirmed for an India debut in 2025. It will be launched here alongside the slightly larger and more premium Enyaq EV SUV.
Glimpses of the exterior design reveal that it will pick up much of its design cues from the Kodiaq and the Enyaq. From the images of the hidden car, we can see more of a crossover stance than an outright SUV. No images of the interior have been revealed but it is expected to pick up the new minimalist Skoda layout with a large one-piece display, rectangular steering wheel, and bucket seats with large side bolstering.
The Elroq is expected to have a range of around 600km and will come with the usual gamut of things like a 0-80 per cent fast charging in under 30 minutes, V2L, V2V, and multi-stage regenerative braking to put charge in the batteries.
The Elroq is one of the three EV SUVs that Skoda has planned for India over the next five years. It will be joined by the Enyaq, followed by a global A-segment EV, which we suspect will be the Kylaq EV, around 2027. The last one is expected to be a completely localised product and will be developed and manufactured in India for global markets.
