The new Renault Kaptur seven-seater crossover will be unveiled in Russia on March 30. The French automaker has released a teaser image and it reveals a typical Renault silhouette with the large logo, sweptback headlights and rear sloping roofline. The car also gets C-shaped LED lamps and possibly LED tail lamps too.
The India-bound Kaptur is expected to be based on the same B0 platform as the current Duster but will have all the styling elements of the smaller Captur crossover currently sold in European markets. The move to keep it on this platform rather than the new CMF architecture will be for cost reasons. This common platform means the Kaptur is expected to get the same underpinnings and engine lineup from the current Duster.
It will slot in above the Duster and is expected to be first launched in the Russia [FV1] before making its way to places like Latin American and South Africa.
In India,as it will, for obvious reasons, be longer than the 4.3-metre Duster to accommodate the third row. This means it will be as long as the Lodgy indicating a plan of different body styles in the same price range.
The company had already indicated that the number of models being produced at their Chennai plant would expand over the next five years and we believe that this new Kaptur will be a part of the expanded range.
