Nissan recently unveiled their new compact SUV Kicks through pictures. Not all details of the car are available as of yet. These will be soon shared by the carmaker as it prepares to launch the car globally this year. We have compiled a photo gallery of this India-bound vehicle for you to take a look at.
The Nissan Kicks was first unveiled in concept form at the 2014 Sao Paulo Auto Show. It is now ready for production and will go on sale in Brazil in August this year.
It is the official car for the 2016 Rio Olympics and was recently snapped during a photoshoot. This is when the pictures were leaked revealing information about the SUV.
There are not many changes from the concept version that can be seen on this production version. The boomerang headlamps, V Motion grille and contrasting floating roof have been carried over.
The Nissan Kicks measures 4,295mm in length, 1,760mm in width and 1,590mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,610mm, suggesting there might be oodles of space inside.
The car's interior features a unique design with a centre stack resembling a tablet embedded in it. There is a 7-inch colour display for the infotainment system and also a flat-bottom steering wheel.
A close observation of the instrument cluster reveals a whole load of necessary information. This includes real-time fuel efficiency, trip meters, odometers, etc.
The Kicks also boasts of new features like the Around View Monitor and Moving Object Detection. These are touted to be the segment firsts in the Latin American market.
For the Brazilian market, the Kicks will be powered by the 1.6-litre flex-fuel mill. This motor produces 115bhp and 117bhp of power when running on ethanol (as an additive) and petrol respectively.
There might be a few changes to the car when Nissan plans to get it to India. We can expect the 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Terrano to power the Indian-spec Kicks.
The Nissan Kicks will enter the compact SUV category and compete with the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster. It will be the first amongst the sporty cars Nissan plans to offer in India.
