A few weeks back, the new and updated Jeep Renegade was spotted in South America ahead of its anticipated debut in late 2018 or early 2019. Following that, a few spy shots of the refreshed Renegade have leaked online revealing the fascia and the interiors. Jeep has been contemplating the Indian introduction of the Renegade and it is believed that we might get this very facelift model.
The changes to the fascia aren’t too radical as seen on the recently unveiled 2019 Cherokee. But the tweaks include a slight decoration of the characteristic seven-slat grille flanked by revised headlights. They are still circular though but get new rectangular elements in them. The headlights also get new bezel around them. The front bumpers are redesigned completely with the fog lamps and air vents undergoing an entirely new design compared to the current car.
The interior image, on the other hand, reveals a new and larger infotainment screen. The size is speculated to be increased to 8.4-inches. The centre console seems to have lost a few knobs and buttons, however, there are a few of them lower down the console for the air-conditioning and multimedia control.Â
Mechanically, the facelifted Jeep Renegade is expected to continue being offered with the existing petrol and diesel engines in manual and automatic transmission options. The SUV will be available in front wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. As for the Indian market, we might get 1.4-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engine options.Â
Jeep will bring in the Renegade as a CKD unit assembled alongside the successful Compass in India. We expect Jeep to price it between Rs 12 lakhs to Rs 15 lakhs. More details about the small off-roader will be known in the days to come. So stay tuned.
