The highly anticipated India-bound Jeep Compass has been leaked in its Chinese avatar ahead of its official debut at the 2016 Sao Paulo Motor Show in November. This will be the new entry-level model from the American automaker and will also arrive in India in mid-2017.
The pictures confirm what we saw in Brazil which is that this car will look like a mini Cherokee/Grand Cherokee. It sports a similar grille, stance and even headlamps. Other noticeable elements include the wrap around tail lamps, multiple alloy wheel designs and black coloured bumpers. The external and internal trim is expected to be chrome laced. Standard features include climate control, touchscreen infotainment system, electrically adjustable front seats and a multitude of airbags. Reports suggest that this car will be offered in three variants – Limited, Sport and Longitude with the last one being the top-of-the-line variant.
This will be an important vehicle for the Indian market as it will be the first locally produced model from the FCA stable. Production is expected to begin in mid-2017 once Fiat has completed work at its Ranjagaon plant outside Pune. This SUV will be produced for the local markets as well as for export purposes.
