Jaguar’s show floor at the ongoing 2016 Indonesia Auto Show has the F-Pace in a rather spectacular blue shade. This all-new crossover is of special interest to us since Jaguar is expected to launch it soon here in the Indian market.
Shown first at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the design of the F-Pace remains true to the aesthetics of the C-X17 concept. Developed using lightweight aluminium architecture, the F-Pace combines surface and proportion with the F-Type-inspired features such as the strong rear haunches, fender vents and distinctive tail light graphics.
Globally, the F-Pace range consists of Prestige, R-Sport, Portfolio and S versions. Once can opt it with either 180bhp, 2-litre diesel manual with rear or all-wheel drive and automatic with all-wheel drive; 300bhp, 3-litre diesel automatic and 380bhp 3-litre petrol automatic with all-wheel drive. The gearbox, meanwhile, is developed by ZF and comes in two specifically-optimised versions of the company’s popular 8-speed automatic units from 8HP family. All 6-cylinder engines are paired with the 8HP70 transmission while the four-cylinder units are matched to the lighter, more compact 8HP45 unit.
The F-Pace will be launched in India as a fully imported vehicle and as a result, will cost nearly a crore. It will mainly rival the Porsche Macan which ranges between Rs 1-1.11 crore.
