After introducing the M3 and the M4 earlier this year, BMW India is all set to launch yet another model from its M division in the form of the X5 M. Based on the X5 luxury SUV, this new model boasts of all the M division goodies as well as the all-wheel drive capability of the standard X5. The X5 M is scheduled to launch in India on October 15 along with the sportier looking X6 M.
Built to offer Porsche 911-rivaling performance while retaining the practicality quotient of an SUV, the X5 M features signature M division design upgrades and a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine.
The X5 M gets large air intakes at the front end, redesigned grille and side skirts and quad tail pipes. Further enhancing the appeal are the forged 21-inch light alloy wheels.
Inside, the sporty SUV gets M leather steering wheel with aluminium gearshift paddles, aluminium interior trim strips and an M footrest for the driver.
Standard features in the X5 M include automatic tailgate, headlight washers, climate control, a hi-fi speaker system and Park Distance Control, head-up display, adaptive LED headlights and lots more.
The X5 M is powered by a 4.4-litre, twin turbocharged V8 engine that develops 567bhp of power and 750Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an 8-speed M Steptronic gearbox.
Thanks to the M-specific all-wheel-drive system, the X5 M can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 4.2 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.
The new TwinPower turbo V8 for the X5 M is the most powerful engine ever developed by BMW for its all-wheel-drive range.
BMW India will launch the X5 M in India on October 15. When launched, the high-performance SUV will compete with the likes of Mercedes-Benz ML63 and GL63 AMG.
