BMW has announced prices for the latest generation 7 Series for the UK market. It will go on sale from this month onwards and the on-road prices are in the region of 72,000 GBP to 76,010 GBP (Rs 71 lakh to 75.31 lakh). There will also be two limited production plug-in hybrid models whose prices have not yet been announced. India will see the car being launched at the 2016 Auto Expo.
This latest generation BMW 7 Series was unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Despite being a generational change, the 7 Series appears to have a kept a lot of the older overall design. However, there are quite a few new elements like the grille, headlamps and bumpers. It is the same story in the cabin where the 7 Series has retained the older layout but gets revised or new elements to give it a fresh look.
On the engine front, the UK market gets the 7 Series in two petrol variants, three diesel variants and two limited production plug-in hybrid variants. We in India are expected to get the 730Ld and the 750Li variants when the car is launched here. There is a noticeable absence of the top-of-the-line 760Li variant which we believe, they will launch at a later date as a rival to the Mercedes Maybach family of cars.
The arrival of the 7 Series for the UK market indicates that production of the RHD models have begun and exports will soon commence to markets like Malaysia, Thailand and Australia.
