Honda has priced the 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel-powered Honda CR-V at 22,800 GBP (Rs 22.84 lakh) in the UK. The UK spec CR-V is very similar to one sold in India save for a model year change and a few added features both on the inside and outside. However, the bit we are interested in is the diesel engine. The 1.6-litre oil burner produces 118bhp, 300Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox which sends power to the front wheels.
This engine was unveiled last year as a part of the Japanese automaker’s Earthdreams technology and currently also powers the UK spec Civic premium hatchback. It is quite relevant to the Indian market as this is the engine that is expected to power diesel versions of the Civic, CR-V and the Jazz-based compact SUV. The 1.5-litre oil burner which was introduced with the Amaze compact sedan will also power the Diesel City and the Mobilio MPV.
