The Renault-Nissan alliance shares a lot more than the facility in India. Their mass market products are identical - the Micra and Sunny are rebadged with few changes to be sold as the Pulse and Scala. It does not end there; both have confirmed that the badge engineering will continue and since the Nissan products are priced below Renault, we are really keen to find out more about the Nissan’s version of the Renault Duster. Now pictures have surfaced on Facebook of what we believe are the first images of the Duster clone SUV from Nissan.
Nissan had announced a week ago that it would debut and subsequently launch a compact SUV. It had announced this previously too and said that the vehicle would be more than a re-badged Duster. It is likely that the platform (BO) and engine line up will stay the same as the Duster, though Nissan might offer its vehicle with 4x4 capabilities.
Taking into consideration how the rebadged models have been performing since their launch (Pulse, Scala) Nissan has changed most of the front fascia with restyled bumpers, headlights and the grille is now a honeycomb design and will house a massive Nissan badge.
The rear-end, despite having quite a few changes, still looks similar to the Duster due to the obvious squat stance of the car and similarities in overall design. However, the tail lamps and the licence plate housing have been changed from the Duster.
We expect that the Nissan compact SUV will be priced around Rs 30-50, 000 lesser than the Renault Duster.
