Driving on Indian highways is dangerous as some are badly lit whereas some roads are not so fortunate enough to even see a street light. However, things might change soon as the government is planning to construct illuminated highways.
The government is gearing up to do a feasibility study on this idea and if it turns out to be very useful, then they might proceed with it. The result will be the creation of roads that self- illuminate through photoluminescent coating. This will create ethereal lines charged by sunlight. These roads won’t just help the government reduce their electricity bill but may also help make the roads safer by improving visibility. This is will only come to light after the feasibility study is revealed.
This is an expensive proposition as the project will attract 15-20 per cent more cost than the regular highways. It is an acceptable cost, considering the benefits for the consumers.
