The i10 is slated to get a new petrol engine in the next two months. This new engine will displace 1.2 litres and will make a little over 80bhp. This information is yet to be officially confirmed, however.
The 1.2l petrol engine is called ‘Kappa’ and is being developed at Hyundai’s Chennai facility. It will have all-aluminium construction as well. The i10’s diesel variant’s launch has been moved ahead as well, from the initial 2010 launch date to either the end of the current year or early next year. The new diesel engines will roll out of the new Chennai factory that is currently being set up.
