Hyundai has released a teaser video of the all-new Veloster and we were blown by the raucous exhaust note. So much so that one of us who overheard me playing the video thought it was a Porsche, and that is a compliment that would make Hyundai proud.
Known for its budget cars, Hyundai has taken a quantum leap in recent times with the Genesis series and the new breed of performance Hyundais. The i30 N hatchback that debuted earlier this year has already been touted as a competitor to VW Golf/Ford Focus. Seems like, Albert Biermann, BMW’s testing and performance genius, has been given a free hand and that is working wonders.
The Veloster is still wrapped in the streaky multicolour camouflage, but it isn’t enough to hide its flowing form. You might get the 201bhp 1.6-litre turbo petrol from the Elantra GT to begin with while the insane 271bhp four-banger from the i30 N might power the Veloster N later in the course.
