Hyundai has finally revealed the name of their upcoming compact SUV. Previously codenamed as ix25, this new SUV will be called Creta in the Indian markets as well in the global markets.
This new name is a part of the Korean manufacturer's brand philosophy – simple, creative and caring. The company thought of this name because it is simple, easy to remember and evokes similarities with the term creative.
While the Creta has taken design cutes from its big brother, the Santa Fe, mechanically, it might be powered by the same engine options from the Hyundai Verna. For the Chinese market, the ix25 comes with AWD, automatic gearbox and ESP. The AWD version is unlikely to be made available but the 1.6-litre engine will be offered with manual and automatic transmission option.
Once launched, the Creta will compete with the Ford EcoSport and Renualt Duster. The global launch of the Hyundai Creta will take place in India in the second half of 2015.
