Hyundai will launch the facelifted 4S fluidic Verna tomorrow for the Indian market. The manufacturer had recently started its bookings for an amount from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000.
This is the revised Verna that is available in other markets as the Solaris, the same one which premiered last year at the Beijing Auto Show in China. The revamped sedan gets changes that differentiate it from the present sedan. The most evident revision at the front is the set of new headlamps that are bigger than the ones on the Verna presently sold. The fog lamps are new and there are tweaks to the front bumper and bonnet as well. Though the silhouette of the car is the same, the new Verna gets diamond-cut alloy wheels unlike the ones on the present Verna. The changes at the back, though not many, include two new big reflectors on the rear bumper.
Hyundai might introduce some additional features to the cabin though the interior layout is expected to be carried over from the current model. The feature list is expected to include a new seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system and some more changes that will up the luxury quotient of the car.
This facelifted model of the Verna will be powered by the same petrol and diesel engine options. There are two petrol variants, one that comes powered by a 105bhp 1.4-litre engine and the other a 121bhp 1.6-litre mill. Both these come paired to a five-speed manual gearbox. The diesel models also include two options - the 1.4- and 1.6-litre mills that produce 89bhp and 126bhp of power respectively and come mated to a six-speed manual.
This facelifted model of the Verna will mainly rival the new Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in a bid to regain the best-seller title in the C-segment of cars in India. It will also compete with the Nissan Sunny, Skoda Rapid, Renault Scala and the Volkswagen Vento. We will get to know the exact variant-wise pricing of the car, which is expected to start at Rs 7.5 lakh for the base variant and go up to Rs 12 lakh for the top-of-the-line model.
