Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) sold 38,601 cars in India in April 2015, showing a growth of 9.5 per cent in sales for April. The company had sold 35,248 units of cars in the same month last year.
Apart from the domestic sales, the manufacturer also exported 12,904 vehicles in April 2015 when they had sold 14,974 units in the corresponding month in 2014. In comparison, this shows a decrease of 13.8 per cent in sales. In all, Hyundai's cumulative sales sum up to 51,505 units in April 2015 as against 50,222 units they sold in the same period last year showing a hike of 2.6 per cent.
Rakesh Srivastava, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, HMIL, said, "Hyundai with a volume of 38,601 units continued the growth momentum with 9.5 per cent increase over last year on the strength of strong and young product portfolio led by 12,425 units of Elite i20 and i20 Active in a challenging market conditions especially in the rural market."
Hyundai is expected to launch the ix25 compact crossover this year. They launched the Elite i20 in August 2014, followed by a beefier version of the hatchback in March this year in the form of i20 Active. Both these cars are enjoying a good demand in the Indian market. With such a great sensation created and increasing demand of the new products, the sales numbers are only expected to increase.
