We recently showed you pictures of Hyundai’s upcoming new crossover being tested on the Greater Noida expressway. A few days later, the company named the car Creta for the global market. A test mule of the car was again spotted taking rounds on the same route, the pictures of which our reader Rohan Gupta sent to us.
The Creta (dubbed as ix25 earlier) was originally developed for the Chinese market and will be produced in India as well. The small SUV adopts the styling of the Santa Fe, which is almost like the smaller version of the sibling. It carries over the same design language and measures 4,270mm in length, 1,780mm in width and 1,630mm in height. The crossover will come equipped with projector headlamps, DRLs, roof rails, alloy wheels and OVRMs integrated with side indicators.
The Chinese-spec Hyundai ix25 comes with a sun roof, cruise control, automatic climate control, keyless start and reverse parking camera. Hyundai India is expected to bring the same model to our country without skimping on any of the features in the India-spec model.
The Creta for the Indian market is expected to be powered by the same engine-options from the Hyundai Verna. The Korean manufacturer might add the 1.6-litre engine option with manual and automatic transmission options depending on the different variants.
While the testing of the Creta in a disguised avatar still continues, Hyundai India seems to be preparing itself for its launch in a couple of months. The Creta will then compete with the Ford Ecosport, Renault Duster and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Alpha in the crossover segment in India.
