The facelifted version of the Hyundai Xcent has been spotted sans camouflage in the run-up to its launch, scheduled for April 20. The new Xcent looks starkly different from the outgoing car and has been designed to look like a premium vehicle.
Following in the wake of its hatchback sibling, the Grand i10, which got a facelift done only two months ago, the Xcent gets an almost all-new posterior which is clearly visible in the spied images. The rear sports a completely new design, while the tweaked fascia is similar to the new Grand i10 with a sea of gleaming chrome. The moniker at the rear confirms it to be the top-of-the-line SX trim. On the inside, the cabin is expected to remain the same. But just like in the Grand i10, there will be an added touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control and rear armrest cup holders.
Engine wise, the new Xcent will be powered by the same brand new 1.2-litre diesel engine which has been plonked in the Grand i10. The engine produces 74bhp and 190Nm, which comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The petrol unit, however, will be carried forward from the current model. The 1.2-litre four pot unit produces 81bhp and 114Nm and gets an optional four-speed automatic along with the five-speed manual transmission.
After its launch, the facelifted Xcent will continue to play rival to the likes of the Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Ford Aspire, Volkswagen Ameo as well as the new Tata Tigor. We believe that Hyundai will price the Xcent facelift marginally higher than the outgoing model in a bid to keep it competitive in the market.
