After much ado, Hyundai has revealed that the Venue will launch in India on 21 May. Official bookings are likely to begin soon for India’s first smart connected SUV. Hyundai Venue will be unveiled in India later today at 8:30 PM, while the global debut will be held simultaneously at the 2019 New York Motor Show.
The Venue will get 33 connectivity features, which includes ten India-specific features. While the Hyundai Venue is a sub-4meter SUV, the overall design silhouette is similar to the Creta. We have already detailed the exterior and interior design of the SUV. Some of the features will include an electric sunroof, LED taillights and projector headlamps.
The Hyundai Venue will be available with a choice of three engine options – two petrol motors (1.0L T-GDi & 1.2L) and a diesel mill (1.4L). The 1.0-litre T-GDi turbocharged petrol will debuts in India with a 7-speed DCT and a 6-speed manual gearbox. It puts out 118bhp and 172Nm. The 1.2-litre petrol motor (82bhp/115Nm) is shared with the Elite i20 and will be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The sole oil burner is a 1.4-litre four-cylinder CRDi motor that makes 89bhp and 220Nm. It will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission. The Hyundai Venue will take the fight against the Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, and the Tata Nexon. We expect the Venue to fall in the price bracket of Rs 8-12 lakhs (ex-showroom).
