The Hyundai Venue is off to a great start, as dispatches for May 2019 stood at 7,049 units for the compact SUV. While this could be due to the initial consumer demand, the aggressive pricing sure has helped matters for the Venue. That said, we won't jump the gun. We will wait for the SUV to settle into the market before passing our judgement. In the meanwhile, here's our review of the Hyundai Venue.
We have already reported about the Venue bagging over 20,000 bookings since launch in India. The compact SUV costs between Rs 6.50 lakhs to Rs 11.11 lakhs (ex-showroom India). Hyundai Venue is available in five trim levels and three engine and gearbox options. There's an 83bhp 1.2L petrol motor that pairs to a five-speed manual. Then, we also get a 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine that makes 118bhp and 172Nm. It is available with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed DCT. Mile munchers can opt for the tried and tested 1.4L CRDi oil burner that churns out 89bhp and 220Nm, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The Venue comes with Hyundai Blue Link Connectivity that offers 33 internet connectivity features and on-the-go internet with an eSIM. Other features include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, climate control, six airbags, hill assist, electronic stability control, and much more.
Interestingly, the segment leader, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has witnessed a decline in year-on-year (YoY) sales by 44 per cent. The Japanese carmaker sold 8,781 units of the compact SUV in May 2019, against 15,629 units sold during the same period last year. The Vitara Brezza has clearly lost some ground to Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300.
