Last month, we had reported about Hyundai Venue leading the compact SUV segment with 9,585 units sold in July as against 5,302 units sold by Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in the same period. In August too, the Hyundai Venue has managed to hold its pole position, for the third time in a row, with 9,342 unit sales as against 7,109 units of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza sold in August 2019. It is worth noting that the sales for the Vitara Brezza dropped by 46 per cent last month as the company had sold 13,271 units in August 2018.
It is believed that the lack of petrol engine option for the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has affected its sales against the recently launched Hyundai Venue, which is available in 1.2-litre and 1.0-litre petrol engine options. Apart from petrol, the Venue can also be had with a 1.4-litre diesel engine option. Moreover, Hyundai claims that the Venue is India’s first ‘Smart Connected SUV’ with global Hyundai BlueLink Connectivity technology with 33 new connected car features, of which, 10 is specific to India.
The Mahindra XUV300 which held the third position in terms of sales in July with 4,464 units has now slipped down to the fourth position with 2,532 unit sales in August. In terms of sales, the Ford Ecosport has managed to surpass the XUV300 with 2,882 units sold in August 2019, thereby emerging as the third best-selling car in the compact SUV segment last month.
