Hyundai has today revealed the Blue Link connectivity features of upcoming Venue compact SUV. The Hyundai Venue will come with 33 connected services, of which, ten features will be specific to India. We have already listed these connectivity features, which you can check out here. Let’s take a deep dive into the connected ecosystem of India’s first smart connected SUV.
The Hyundai Venue will come with a built-in Vodafone Idea eSIM for network connectivity and a dedicated Smartphone app to interact with the car. The 33 services are divided into seven categories – Safety, Security, Remote, VRM (vehicle relation management), LBS (location-based services), Alerts Services and Voice Recognition Services. Here are all the categories explained in brief.
Safety Services
The connected safety features include Auto Crash Notification, SOS/Emergency Assistance and Road Side Assistance. The Venue will have SOS, RSA and Blue Link buttons on the IRVM, which can be used during an emergency. In case of a crash, a notification will be sent to the telematics centre, and an SMS will be sent to the emergency contacts. An emergency call can be made to the driver or various emergency services like police and ambulance. The RSA button can be used to connect with roadside assistance services like vehicle breakdown, flat tyre, emergency fuel and vehicle towing.
Security Services
The Blue Link Security feature allows the owner to get a notification in case of vehicle theft. Users can remotely immobilize the car and track the vehicle from any distance. The feature helps you secure your car round the clock.
Remote Services
The remotely connected services let the owner lock/unlock the doors remotely, activate the lights and horn honk, check vehicle status, find car location and App-based car sharing. Owners can also remotely start/stop the engine and switch on/off the AC. However, these features are limited to the AT variants.
Vehicle Relation Management (VRM)
The VRM services let the owner to check the health of his/her car proactively. It offers a monthly health report, driving behaviour information and auto & manual DTC (diagnosis trouble codes) check. The service also sends alerts related to periodic maintenance of the car.
Location-Based Services (LBS)
The Hyundai Venue will come with an array of location-based connected services like real-time traffic information, real-time vehicle tracking, Push Maps from App to the car, Push Maps by the call centre and schedule linked destination settings. The service also lets the users search and share live locations, share the destination from the device, and sharing and tracking of vehicle location with the family.
Alert Services
The Alert Services sends various alert notifications to the owner/user of the car, which is described below. A geo-fence alert is sent to the owner if the car location violates the user-set boundary. Similarly, the user also gets speed and time-fencing alerts if the driver breaks the owner-set speed or time limitations. There’s also a unique Valet and Idle Alert, which reports the owner if the valet or the driver violates the owner set driving conditions (speed, location and idle time).
Voice Recognition Services with Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The cloud-based Interactive Voice Recognition service comes with support for Indian English. Users can control various functions of the infotainment system by using voice commands. The service also lets users access navigation, calling and check weather updates using AI-based voice commands.
As part of the connected ecosystem, Hyundai India will deploy 615 Blue Link Wizards (trained professionals) across the country to explain the Hyundai Blue Link connectivity features to customers before the Venue is launched in India. Hyundai has also announced that the Blue Link connectivity features will be rolled out in other Hyundai cars in the months to come.
The Hyundai Venue will be launched in May 2018, mostly on 21 May. It will rival the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra XUV300. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 8 lakhs to Rs 12 lakhs (ex-showroom).
