Hyundai Venue 1.0-litre petrol manual performance figures revealed

The Hyundai Venue has been the big hitter for the South Korean automaker in the compact SUV segment market. While diesels rule the roost in terms of purchased models, the segment also offers performance oriented petrols for those who want some fun in their driving experience. One such option is the 1.0-litre turbo petrol being offered with Venue. This is a three-cylinder engine producing 118bhp/172Nm and can be had with a either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG.

Well we have now tested the six-speed manual variant and here are its real-world acceleration, braking and efficiency figures. 

Acceleration

The 1.0-litre petrol manual model weighs in at 1140 kilos and sports 215/60 R16 tyres and wheels respectively. In our tests it took 1.36 seconds to get off the line and hit 20kmph while the sprint to 40kmph which is more or less city speeds, took 2.78 seconds. The 80kmph mark was crossed in 7.44 seconds while the magical 100kmph mark was breached in 11.49 seconds. 

While the climb across the initial figures was constant the final climb from 100kmph to 120kmph took slightly longer and was achieved in 16.45 seconds. 

In our roll-on tests, this engine and gearbox combination took the Venue from 20-80kmph (third gear) in 11.85 seconds while 40-100kmph sprint (in fourth gear) took 13.75 seconds. 

Braking

The Venue, even in this top-of-the-line SX (O) variant, sports discs in front and drums at the rear. ABS with EBD is common across the Venue range. To go from 80-0kmph the Venue took 2.44 seconds and used a distance of 27.01 meters.
