Hyundai has commenced bookings for the all-new Venue for a price of Rs 21,000 ahead of the Indian launch on 21 May. The carmaker has revealed that the Venue will be available in 13 variants – five diesel and eight petrol – across four trim levels – E, S, SX, and SX(O). But the new 1.0-litre Turbo GDI engine mated to the seven-speed DCT gearbox will only be available in the S and SX+ trims.
Apart from the seven colour options – denim blue, lava orange, deep forest, stardust, fiery red, polar white and typhoon silver – the Venue will also be available in three dual colour options. These dual colour combos are blue with a white roof, orange with black roof and white with black roof.
When launched, the Venue will mark Hyundai’s debut in the hot-selling sub-four metre segment. It will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, and the Tata Nexon. It appears modern and comes with many segment first features. Most prominent of which is the BlueLink connected car technology.
Being a Hyundai, the cabin will have all the bells and whistles expected from its segment and many segment-first features as well, such as ventilated seats, sunroof, disc brakes on all four wheels, apart from front seatbelt reminder, reverse parking sensors, high-speed warning, side airbags, and reverse parking camera with dynamic guidelines, to name a few.
Mechanically, the petrol engine options will include a 118bhp/171Nm 1.0-litre Kappa turbo GDI (gasoline direct injection) and an 81bhp/114Nm 1.2-litre Kappa, while the diesel will be Verna’s 1.4-litre U2 CRDi engine producing 89bhp/219Nm. The five-speed manual will be mated to the 1.2-litre petrol while the diesel will get a six-speed manual. The GDI petrol motor will only be paired to the seven-speed DCT (dual clutch transmission). The Venue will be the only vehicle in its segment with a DCT automatic after the EcoSport replaced its DCT with a torque converter.
The all-new Venue is expected to be launched in the price bracket of Rs 8-12 lakhs (ex-showroom). Stay tuned to CarWale for all the details on the Hyundai Venue.
