Besides readying the updated version of the Creta (sold as the ix25 in China), Hyundai is also preparing to the launch the new Sonata in China. The facelifted model was first shown in the country at the Shanghai Auto Show last month.
Design wise, the updated sedan gets different headlights, bumpers and a bigger grille. Engine options, meanwhile, would include 208bhp 2-litre hybrid, 189bhp 2.4, 180bhp 1.6 turbo and a 160bhp 2-litre unit. The updated Sonata is manufactured in China by the Beijing-Hyundai joint venture.
It is no secret that the previously upgraded Sonata received an underwhelming response and as a result, it lagged behind its rivals in the mid-size sedan segment. With the facelifted model, Hyundai is looking to give the Sonata a thorough refurbishment in order to revive interest in the car.
