Hyundai has said that they will ramp up production of the Xcent compact sedan in a bid to meet customer demands and consequently reduce the waiting period for the vehicle. The Grand i10 hatchback and Xcent sedan, which were launched about six months apart, have been a revelation of sorts for the Korean automaker as both of them put together have managed to sell 16,275 units in the month of April alone.
The company has said that it was working on a plan to ramp up production to reduce waiting periods for the compact sedan. It has also said that it was looking to export the Xcent from the Chennai plant and was currently evaluating various markets to where the car could be exported. Hyundai currently achieves 46 per cent of its sales from exports alone.
The elections results have been declared and this combined with the promise of economic stability for at least the coming year means that Hyundai is expected to move its primary focus to these two cars over the course of the next few months in a bid to boost its volumes.
