Hyundai India plans to bring in its much famed Santa Fe to India by year end. The SUV would be brought in as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) to the country.
Santa Fe would be initially brought in as a CBU but depending on the sales in India, Hyundai might look into the option of producing the vehicle in India.
Hyundai currently sells the Tucson in India but it is being said that the two models would not compete with each other as they will feature in totally different segments. There has been no word spoken on the likely price tag Santa Fe would carry.
Hyundai is also planning to launch a small car below the cheapest selling Santro. The new car which is likely to be powered by a 800cc engine, according to officials, would hit the Indian market by 2011.
