Hyundai India has released a teaser image of its upcoming C-segment sedan, the new 2017 Verna on Instagram, the popular photo-sharing social media platform. The last generation of the Hyundai Verna was introduced back in 2009 and had been India’s highest selling C-segment car for quite some time.
With the competition reinventing itself with the all-new Honda City and the introduction of the Maruti Ciaz, it rang the death knell for the ageing Verna. The new Hyundai Verna is an all-new car, built ground up on the new modular Hyundai i20 platform. The Hyundai Elantra-like styling is revealed in the teaser image which also shows off the signature LED daytime running lamps. It also gets the projector-style fog lamps seen on the Elantra.
Hyundai has always been generous with features and equipment and with the tough competition is store, we expect the list to be long with all the creature comforts the segment demands and a few more. As for the engines, we expect Hyundai to continue with the 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine options tuned for better power delivery as well as economy. The Verna will be offered with both the manual and automatic gearbox options to cater to the diverse Indian car buyers.
Now that the car is teased, we expect the car to be launched no later than July and deliveries starting before the festive season starts building up.
