Hyundai has fuelled its high-performance aspirations with the debut of the RM16, its latest ‘N’ model concept. Shown at the 2016 Busan Motor Show in South Korea, the RM16 sits alongside the automaker’s other performance-focused exhibits like the N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo.
Hyundai’s performance sub-brand ‘N’, which was introduced in September 2015, will give rise to a whole new range of performance-focussed model from the Korean carmaker which is best known for making well built, feature-rich cars. The RM16 and the Vision Gran Turismo concepts would eventually evolve into Hyundai’s first N model.
The latest RM16 is the result of Hyundai’s RN (Racing Mid-Ship) project which, in the past, has conceived the RM14 (shown at the 2014 Busan Motor Show) and the RM15 (shown at the Seoul Motor Show). The RM16, then, is the best of what Hyundai currently has in store. The concept is powered by a mid-mounted 2-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine that makes 295bhp. The car also features carbon fibre body panels and an adjustable rear wing.
