Hyundai Motors India has registered total sales of 34,005 units in the domestic market and has exported 12,500 in February 2014. However, as compared to the corresponding period last year where it sold 34,002 units in the domestic market and exported 20,663 units this is a drop of -39.5 per cent.
It has cumulative sales of 46,505 units as compared to 54,665 in the corresponding period last year resulting in a decline of -14.9 per cent. While this is a negative number, it is likely that it may have been much higher if not for the excise duty cuts and sudden price cuts by the manufacturers. However, as we had reported yesterday, both the manufacturers and customers are being cautious till the General Elections are completed in May.
Commenting on the performance, Rakesh Srivastava, Senior. VP- sales and marketing, HMIL said, "Post the reduction in excise duty, enquiry inflow has increased with February sales of 34,005 units with a growth of 2 per cent over the earlier month and it is expected that this would lead towards creation of a positive momentum."
