Within two weeks of its unveiling, the Hyundai Santro is all set to make its debut in the Indian car market, renewing Hyundai’s challenge in the budget car segment. The leaked price lists expect it to be priced beginning from Rs 3.8 lakhs. The new Santro has already managed to garner more than 14,000 bookings already with the number expected to rise higher as the car is visible on the road post-launch.
The Hyundai Santro brings in the new Rhythmical Tension design ideology which adapts the hexagonal cascading front grille in the new style. The new design language also adds drama to the profile in a segment that is known to be Spartan in the overall styling department.
The interior is also all-new and gets touches of chrome around the beige and black cabin. It will be quite laden for a budget compact hatchback and is the first to offer rear AC vents. Under the hood, you will have the 1.1-litre petrol engine which can also run on CNG and both fuel options will be offered by the manufacturer. Hyundai will also offer their first AMT gearbox on the Santro along with the five-speed manual.
The new Santro will take on the compact hatchback segment which is currently being dominated by the Tata Tiago, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and the Renault Kwid 1.0-litre along with the Datsun Go and the Redi-Go 1.0-litre.
