Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) managed to sell 5,27,320 vehicles in India in 2017 making it the highest-ever domestic sales for the carmaker. The cumulative sales of 6,78,221 units also surpass the 2017 Business Plan.
HMIL has easily crossed their target for 2017 with its sales up by 10 per cent in December at 62,899 units. This includes export of 22,741 units that helped spike the numbers by 32.9 per cent as against the 17,107 units sold in the same month the previous year. So, the domestic sales of the company rose marginally to 40,158 units last month as compared to 40,057 units in December 2016.
Another interesting aspect is that the mid-size segment sales grew for Hyundai with the launch of the new Verna. The carmaker has not provided the details of the model-wise sales numbers. However, the Grand i10, Elite i20 and the Creta have helped the carmaker achieve landmark sales. This year the carmaker is aiming at selling 7 lakh units in all, with 5.5 lakh units from domestic sales.
