Hyundai’s official sales figure of March reveals a growth story with the company selling 51,708 units in March. The Korean car maker sold 35,003 units domestically and exported 16,705 units. The sales grew by 3.4 per cent over the same period inMarch 2013.
However, the cumulative figures are down by 8.4 per cent over 2013 figures. While the domestic figures grew, the exports dropped bringing the overall figure down.
Commenting on the March sales Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. VP- Sales and Marketing, HMIL said, “Post the reduction of excise duty and with the strong performance in compact segment; Hyundai registered March sales of 35,003 units with a growth of 3.4% over corresponding month indicating a build-up of positive momentum.”
The performance can also be attributed to the new launch this year, the Grand i10 hatchback. Hyundai recently launched the Xcent sedan and this could affect the future sales figures in a big way. The company also introduced a new variant of the Hyundai Verna, and things are looking well poised for Hyundai this year. All in all a great domestic performance by the company.
