Hyundai has released the first official rendering for its new tall boy hatchback (codenamed AH2). This new hatch is expected to resurrect the Santro moniker for a new entry-level B-segment vehicle that will be slotted in between the Eon and Grand i10.
The rendering reveals the iconic tall boy design but with elements of the latest Hyundai design language to usher its body style into the modern age. Multiple sightings of the test vehicles have already revealed various elements of the new car and this includes the cascading grille, design for the alloy wheels and some elements of the interiors.
This new Santro, is expected to be offered only with petrol power and will most likely debut an AMT (automated manual transmission) for the Hyundai family. This gearbox is also expected to find its way to other Hyundai vehicles in the future.
The AH2/Santro will be Hyundai's spearhead against the likes of the Tata Tiago, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Maruti Suzuki Celerio and the Datsun GO Plus. Â
