- Hyundai currently offers three CNG cars in India
- Could introduce dual CNG tanks in its range soon
Hyundai has registered two trademarks for what could be its updated range of CNG offerings. To be called ‘Hy-CNG’ and ‘Hy-CNG Duo’, these iterations could be single- and twin-cylinder CNG tanks in their current model range.
Hyundai currently retails CNG versions in three cars, namely the Grand i10 Nios, Aura, and the Exter. These cars are currently on sale with a single CNG tank, however, this could be updated to a dual tank setup.
Notably, Tata Motors offers a dual-cylinder CNG tank setup in the same segments as Hyundai in the form of the Tiago, Tigor, and the Punch. Additionally, its premium hatchback, the Altroz is also available with the said feature, while its rival, the Hyundai i20 does not have a CNG version at the moment.
Tata Motors has certainly upped the game in the CNG market, be it the launch of the twin-cylinder technology in various models or the convenience of an automatic with the Tiago and the Tigor. The upcoming offering from Hyundai seems to be a response to the former, and knowing Hyundai, it shouldn’t be long before automatic are offered in their CNG range too.
