- The Korean carmaker sold 45,371 units in June 2018 compared to 37,562 in June last year.
- The exports grew by 15 per cent with 15,408 units exported last month.
- Hyundai also registered highest ever domestic sales in first half of 2018.
Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) registered a domestic growth of 21 per cent in the month of June after selling 45,371 units compared to 37,562 units sold in the same month last year. The Korean carmaker exported 15,408 units compared to 13,291 vehicles in June 2017 – that´s an increment of over 15 per cent.
Overall, Hyundai India registered a year on year growth of 19.5 per cent selling 60,779 units in June 2018.
The carmaker also posted their best-ever sales figures for H1 in 2018. In the period of January to June this year, Hyundai sold 2,75,136 units in India and exported 73,548 units. The cumulative sales in the first half of 2018 stood at 3,48,684 units, thus registering a growth of 9.8 per cent.
Rakesh Srivastava, director - sales and marketing, HMIL, commenting on the H1 sales, said, “Hyundai product portfolio is very young and youthful and is backed by industry´s no. 1 customer service; this has brought in strong acceptance of Hyundai as modern premium brand with highest ever H1 volume of 2,75,136 units, with a growth of 8.6 per cent led by super performer brands Grand i10, Elite i20, 2018 Creta and Verna.”
Last month, Hyundai achieved a local production milestone of 80 lakh units. It became the second car maker in India to hit the eight million production mark and has been the fastest to reach there in 19 years and 6 months. Hyundai’s journey in India started with the Santro back in 1998 and the eight millionth car to be built is Hyundai’s current bestseller, the 2018 Hyundai Creta.
