Korean auto giant Hyundai has recently announced that it has begun production of the new i30 at its European production facility in Czech Republic. Competing in the full size hatchback segment, the i30 is one of Hyundai’s top- selling models in Europe.
This new model follows Hyundai’s strategy to create cars that are tailored to the needs of European customers. The second-generation i30, on sale since 2012, has accounted for a fifth of Hyundai’s overall European sales in recent years. This upgraded model is expected to further enhance i30’s position in the competitive full-size hatchback segment.
The new i30 range includes three-door and five-door models besides a wagon. The updated range is now offered with a new 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Hyundai has even introduced the hot i30 Turbo with a 1.6-litre turbocharged unit developing 186bhp of power.
Meanwhile, Hyundai India's next launch will come in the form of the i20-based crossover. Having being spied on a number of ocassions in the past, this new model finally could arrive in the Indian market in March this year to compete with the likes of the Volkswagen Cross Polo and the Toyota Etios Cross.
