Hyundai had recently confirmed its plans of introducing a new MPV in 2016, during the launch of the Creta. Now, for the first time, a test mule of the yet unnamed MPV has been spotted undergoing trials in Tamil Nadu.
This new MPV will draw inspiration from the Hyundai Hexa Space concept, which back in 2012 had given us the first hint of Hyundai’s plans for the MPV segment. While the concept wore styling cues from the original Fluidic design philosophy, we can expect this new MPV to get more aggressive styling, thanks to the new Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. Spy shots show that the rear of the MPV will get a bulbous structure, which along with the high roofline should provide decent space for the third-row passengers.
We can expect the powertrain line-up in the MPV to be carried over from the Creta. This new MPV is expected to be launched here in 2016, as a direct rival to the Honda Mobilio and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Speculations suggest that Hyundai is also considering launching an entry-level sub-four-metre version of this MPV, to compete with the Ford EcoSport.
