Korean car manufacturer Hyundai has rolled off its 9 millionth production car from its production facility in Chennai, India. The company has crossed this new milestone in just 21 years of its commercial operation in India. The Hyundai Motor Company arrived in India in 1996, while Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL) was formed in 1998. Interestingly, Hyundai becomes the first car manufacturer to achieve this feat in the shortest time span. The country’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki took 27-years to achieve this milestone in the year 2010.
The company had celebrated its 20th anniversary last year with the launch of a special edition Xcent compact sedan. Speaking of its success, it took seven years to cross the one million milestone, while it took only two years more to cross the 2 million milestone. The company currently has 493 HMIL dealers and 1,309 service points. The company further adds that the nine million milestone is a living testimony to Hyundai’s customer-centric approach and their commitment to providing the best mobility solutions.
