Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has been awarded the prestigious ‘Corporate Social Responsibility Award’ as the ‘Best Commercial and Industrial Institution’ for the year 2009-10.The prestigious award, instituted by the Government of Tamil Nadu in 2008, aims to recognize and appreciate yeoman service in socio-economic welfare activities.
Mr. R. Sethuraman and Mr. T. M. Kumar, Trustees of the Hyundai Motor India Foundation, received the award from the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Shri. M.K Stalin, at a function held in Chennai. The award carries a certificate of appreciation and a cash award of Rs. 5 lakh.
HMIL was felicitated for its CSR activities, carried out through its philanthropic arm – the Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), in the areas of community development, education, road safety, and preservation of art, culture and heritage.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. H.W. Park, MD and CEO, HMIL, said, "We are highly encouraged by this recognition, which will reinforce our commitment to giving something back to the society that drives our sustenance. Commitment towards social responsibility is firmly rooted in our philosophy. We have been involved with communities around Sriperumbedur but we will now look forward to expanding our CSR footprint and it will be our endeavour to continue with community development activities in the future as well."
