It has been just week since the Hyundai Grand i10 was launched in the Indian market for Rs 4.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). While it will slot in between the current i10 and the more premium i20 hatchback for the Indian market, in Europe it replace the current car leading us to believe that the Hyundai is soon likely to discontinue the i10 Kappa engined variants.
As we had said earlier the Grand i10 will replace the current car in the European markets, though it must be noted that the European spec version is 100mm smaller in length, and that means Hyundai will only be producing it (i10 Kappa) for the Indian market as well as a few small export regions in Africa. This also means that Hyundai will soon discontinue the i10 Kappa AT variant in favour of a Grand i10 AT variant which is expected to hit the market in a short while.
In terms of prices too, the i10 Kappa variants and their equivalent Grand i10 variant do not have very major differences. The Sportz variants have a price difference of Rs 16, 000; the Magna variants have a difference of Rs 6, 000 while the Asta variants surprisingly enough cost exactly the same amount. It is likely that Hyundai will drop the prices of the petrol variants of the Grand i10 as and when it discontinues the Kappa engined variants of the outgoing car.
