Hyundai, bolstered by the response to the Creta SUV, may now bring in the Tucson SUV to the Indian market by the second half of 2016. It will slot into the D-segment and has been mooted as a replacement for the Sonata sedan in terms of their offerings in that part of the market.
Reports suggest that the car will be brought into India via the CKD route and that the company plans to sell between 20,000 and 30,000 units annually. This current Tucson was unveiled in February 2015 and showcases Hyundai’s latest design philosophy in terms of its SUVs. It is expected to be offered in the Indian market with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 136bhp and 373Nm of torque. The gearbox option will be a six-speed AT.
The South Korean automaker is expected to showcase the SUV at the 2016 Auto Expo alongside other vehicles like the Genesis and vision N Vision 2025.We can expect a sub-Rs 20 lakh price tag for the SUV.
