Hyundai may launch an i20 based compact sedan at the end of next year. This new compact sedan is expected to replace the ageing Accent which has been around in various guises since the company began operations in the sub-continent and will compete with the likes of the Swift Dzire and the upcoming Honda Amaze as well as the Mahindra Verito CS.
Reports suggest that Hyundai will make use of the tried and test formula of boot-on-hatch to create the new car. It is likely that the sedan be below four metres in length and will be powered by the same set of petrol and diesel engines (all below the 1.5-litre mark) that are present in i20. Both these together will allow the Hyundai to avail two major tax benefits and give the car a competitive price.
Since the i20 is one of the most feature heavy B-segment hatchbacks, we can expect the same interiors, features as well as transmissions for the sedan also. The company has not made any official announcement in this regard but stay tuned to CarWale as we will bring you the details as soon as they emerge.
